Our History
In 1935, Frederick Schmidt, Sr., a German immigrant, and his wife, Martha, purchased pieces of the Lane and Meehan nurseries. Schmidt’s Nurseries was born.
In the early 1950’s, his son, Frederick Schmidt, Jr. came into the business and eventually took it over, continuing the family legacy.
In 1988, Fred, Jr.’s son, David F. Schmidt, took the reins, after graduating from Temple University with a degree in Landscape Design. Dave’s knowledge, work ethic and creative flair have helped make Schmidt’s Nurseries one of top landscaping businesses in Montgomery County.
